Contrade Flags
I couldn't resist taking a photo of these grouped contrade (neighborhood) flags. A vendor was selling them on the plaza near the cathedral in Siena. This amazing Tuscan hilltown is famous for its Palio, a wild horse race run twice in the summer around the beautiful Piazza del Campo. For me, the flags (each bearing the colors and mascot of the competing contrade) symbolized the colorful exuberance of the Palio and the Sienese people.
