Amazing what catches your eye. I was drinking in the architecture, mosaics, murals, and sculpture of Siena's awesome Duomo (Cathedral) when I suddenly looked down and saw a table lined with votive candles. The reverent simplicity of those softly glowing pieces of wax enhanced the monumental structure and art around me in a way I never would have imagined. You can't buy those moments with any kind of money.
